About this trip

Step back in time and into the heart of Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains on horseback. This four day wilderness experience is an invitation to slow down travel the way early frontier explorers once did and immerse yourself in one of the most rugged and awe inspiring mountain ranges in the American West. This trip is designed for women who crave wide open spaces meaningful connection and the kind of adventure that leaves you tired but rested in the best way possible. Whether you are brand new to riding or feel right at home in the saddle our experienced guides will meet you where you are. Together we will ride past alpine lakes through glacier carved valleys and into a landscape that feels untouched and timeless.

We begin the journey with a night in rustic cabins near the ranch. Idaho holds one of the best kept secrets in the West natural hot springs tucked into remote river corridors. After a full day of travel we will unwind in the nearby Sacajawea Hot Spring just a short walk along the river or soak in the onsite geothermal pool. This first night sets the tone for the entire experience grounded relaxed and ready to unplug.

The following morning we saddle up early and head into the Sawtooth Wilderness. At sunrise our small group of eight women will ride on horseback to our stationary backcountry camp where we will spend three days and two nights fully immersed in the mountains. Once camp is set we will settle into the rhythm of wilderness life. Evenings are spent around the campfire sharing stories laughter and quiet moments beneath big mountain skies.

Each full day in the Sawtooths is intentionally unstructured so you can experience the wilderness in a way that feels right to you. Options include guided day rides exploring deeper into the range hiking the surrounding terrain relaxing at camp or possibly casting a line if conditions allow. Our guides will provide hearty camp style meals throughout the trip so you can focus on soaking it all in.

On our final morning we break down camp and take one last ride through the mountains returning to the ranch in the afternoon before heading back toward Boise. You will leave feeling grounded connected and deeply restored with friendships and memories that last far beyond the trail. This is a true unplugged experience. Limited service. No distractions. Just horses mountains campfires and a group of women who came looking for something real.

Airport and Travel

The nearest major airport for this trip is Boise Airport. Guests should plan to fly into Boise where we will coordinate group travel to the ranch location approximately two and half hours away. We recommend waiting to book flights until the full group has joined and the private trip communication thread has been created. This allows everyone to align arrival and departure times share ride options and travel together when possible. More detailed travel guidance including recommended arrival windows and departure times will be shared prior to booking to ensure a smooth and stress free experience.

FAQ’S AND POLICY

Yes, we know this part might seem a bit tedious, but it’s important! We kindly ask that everyone who registers for a trip visits the FAQs and Policy page on our website. If you sign up for a trip without reviewing this information, it’s your responsibility. There’s a wealth of valuable information there that could influence your decision. Please make sure to check out all the FAQs and Policies on our website before signing up for a trip with us. Thank you!

EXPECTATIONS + NO DRAMA

We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
